  • Vigilance Bureau arrests Asistant Sub Inspector for accepting Rs. 2,000 bribe

    Punjab E News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing drive against corruption, has arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Baldev Singh, posted at police station Sultanpur Lodhi, district Kapurthala for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,000.

    Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a resident of Kapurthala on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line.
    He further added that as per the complaint, the accused ASI had demanded a bribe Rs. 10,000 for allowing the complainant to join the investigation in a police case after getting anticipatory bail from the court. Later the police personnel asked to pay Rs 5000 for this motive but due to persistent appeals by the complainant he accepted Rs 2000 bribe.
    The spokesperson further informed that during verification, the allegations levelled in the complaint were found to be true. Subsequently, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the aforementioned accused at the VB Police Station, Jalandhar Range and arrested the accused. Further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.

    Punjab E News:  With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state completed 103 days, Punjab Police on Thursday arrested 119 drug smugglers and recovered 1.7 kg heroin, 14.6 kg opium and Rs 57480 drug money from their possession. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 17,137 in just 103 days.

    The operation was conducted on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav simultaneously in all 28 Police districts of the state.

    Notably, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug free state. The Punjab government has also constituted a 5-member Cabinet Sub Committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema to monitor the war against drugs.

    Divulging details, Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla informed that over 200 Police teams, comprising over 1300 police personnel, under the supervision of 89 gazetted officers have conducted raids at as many as 465 locations across the state leading to the registration of 93 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. Police teams have also checked as many as 489 suspicious persons during the day-long operation, he added.

    The Special DGP said that with the state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy— Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)— to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of ‘De-addiction’ has convinced 38 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.

    Jalandhar News:  Aam Aadmi Party’s Jalandhar Central incharge, Nitin Kohli, has strongly condemned the recent attack on the owner of Duggal Chaap Restaurant at Milap Chowk.
    The incident took place on Wednesday evening when a group of people allegedly assaulted the restaurant staff over a delay in food service. The owner and his brother were injured in the attack.
    Kohli visited the restaurant along with police officials and local leaders to assess the situation.
    Expressing his outrage, he said, “This is absolutely wrong. So many people attacking a shop like this is unacceptable. We will not allow the peace of this city to be disturbed.”
    He appreciated the prompt response by the police and said an FIR had been registered against the attackers. “Strict action will be taken against the accused without any delay,” he added.
    Kohli said that Jalandhar is known for its harmony and those who try to disrupt peace through such acts have no place in the community.
    He also demanded increased night patrolling in the area to prevent such incidents in the future.

    Amritsar News: In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a drug-free state as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Commissionerate Police Amritsar has dismantled a well-organized Narco-Hawala cartel being operated by Arshdeep Singh, currently incarcerated at Goindwal Jail, with the arrest of its six operatives and recovering 4.526 kg of heroin and ₹8.7 lakh drug money from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Tuesday.

    Those arrested have been identified as Karandeep Singh alias Karan (25), a resident of Algon Khurd in Tarn Taran, Jaspreet Singh (20), a resident of Salodi in Ludhiana, Arshdeep Singh alias Ars (22), a resident of Mehndipur in Tarn Taran, Gurmeet Singh alias Geetu (24), a resident of Sukhera Bodla in Fazilka, Rajinderpal Singh alias Nikka (24), a resident of Kolowal in Amritsar and Malkeet Singh (28), a resident of Hawelian in Tarn Taran.

    DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that Arshdeep, in connivance with his associates Jaspreet and Karan, has been orchestrating the drug trade and hawala transactions. Karan, along with Gurmeet and Rajinderpal, were retrieving cross-border consignments and distributing them across various districts of Punjab, he said.

    He said that the probe has further revealed that the proceeds from the narcotics trade were laundered via hawala channels by Jaspreet, which were routed to Dubai, UAE and subsequently to Pakistan. The mobile phone used by Arshdeep within the jail has been recovered, providing crucial evidence of their cross-border operations, he said.

    The DGP said that said that further investigations are ongoing to establish backward and forward linkages in this case.

    Sharing more details, Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Arshdeep Singh has been lodged in the jail in a commercial NDPS case. Despite incarceration, he maintained contact with cross-border smugglers, he said.

    He said that one of the arrested accused identified as Malkeet Singh, who has been arrested separately, is a notorious smuggler and had spent a year in Dubai, where he established links with Pakistani smugglers. Given his village’s proximity to the international border, the accused has facilitated the smuggling of consignments directly to his residence upon his return to India two months ago, he added.

    The CP said that Police teams led by DCP Ravinderpal Singh and ADCP Jagbinder Singh executed the operation based on intelligence inputs. Apart from recovering heroin and drug money, police teams have also impounded their Hero Splendor motorcycle, which they were using to deliver the consignments, he said.

    Further investigations are underway to unravel the network’s domestic and international linkages. More arrests and recoveries expected in coming days, he added.

    In this regard, two separate case FIRs have been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

    Punjab News: In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab apprehended close aide of Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria in connection with the sensational shootout took place at Ghuman in Batala, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.

    The arrested accused has been identified as Nilson Massih alias Sunny, a resident of village Athwal in Gurdaspur. The arrested accused has a long criminal history and has been facing at least seven criminal cases including charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery, snatching, and violations of the Arms Act.

    As per the information, the sensational shootout took place outside the Petrol Pump located at Ghuman-Shri Hargobindpur road at village Ghuman in Batala in the evening of May 26, 2025, had resulted in the killing of Gurpreet singh Gora alias Gora Bariar and injuries to Billa Mandiala.

    DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary interrogation has revealed that arrested accused Massih was in regular contact with Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. Acting on Bhagwanpuria’s directions, he orchestrated the murder of Gora Bariar. Accused Massih, along with his three associates, had carried out this attack, he said.

    The DGP said that further investigations are underway to track down and apprehend the remaining accused persons in this case. The arrested person has been handed over to Batala Police for further action, he added.

    Sharing operational details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban said that following the secret input the presence of the key accused involved in Gora Bariar murder case in the jurisdiction of Batala, the teams from AGTF unde the supervision of DSP Rajan Parminder along with teams of Batala Police launched an intel-based operation and apprehended the accused person Nilson Massih from Qadian-Batala road near village Shahbad.

    The ADGP said that further investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages in this case.

    A case FIR 89 dated 26.5.25 had been registered under sections 103, 109, 111 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Ghuman in Batala.

  • THREE NOTORIOUS CRIMINALS ARRESTED FROM SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB; 174GMs HEROIN, TWO PISTOLS RECOVERED

    SRI MUKTSAR SAHIB: In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to ensure a crime-free Punjab as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a joint operation with Sri Muktsar Sahib Police, arrested three notorious criminals and recovered two .32 bore pistols along with 10 live cartridges and 174 grams heroin from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Sunday.

    Those arrested have been identified as Gaurav Kumar alias Billa, Vikasdeep Singh and Lovepreet Singh, all residents of Sri Muktsar Sahib. Trio accused persons have been wanted in multiple criminal cases, including serious offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act.

    DGP Gaurav Yadav said that accused Gaurav alias Billa was a fugitive in a case registered at Police Station City Malout, while Vikasdeep Singh and Lovepreet Singh were wanted in cases registered at Police Station City Sri Muktsar Sahib. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the trio was planning to eliminate their rival, he said.

    The DGP said that further investigation are ongoing to establish forward and backward links in this case. More arrests and recoveries are likely in coming days, he added.

    Sharing operational details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban stated that the police party noticed the trio accused persons examining a polythene bag under the flyover bridge. Upon spotting the police, the accused attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended near the GT Road Bathinda Roundabout, Malout. Upon searching them, the police have recovered heroin and illegal weapons from their possession, he said.

    Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sri Muktsar Sahib Akhil Chaudhary said that a fresh case FIR No. 92 dated 07.06.2025 under sections 21(b) of the NDPS Act and 25 and 27 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station City Malout. Further investigations are underway to uncover additional criminal linkages and accomplices, he said.

  • ILLEGAL ARMS SMUGGLING NETWORK BUSTED IN AMRITSAR; THREE HELD WITH SIX FOREIGN-MADE PISTOLS

    Amritsar News: In a significant breakthrough against illegal arms smuggling networks amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Border Range Amritsar has arrested three associates of jailed kingpin Jugraj Singh and recovered six sophisticated foreign-made weapons smuggled from across the border from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Saturday.

    Those arrested have been identified as Rajan, a resident of Bhagtanwala Gate in Amritsar; Paramjit Singh, a resident of Heer Hall in Ghannupur, Amritsar; and Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Naraingarh, Amritsar.

    The recovered weapons include two Glock 19X Pistols (Made in Austria),two .30 bore Pistols (Made in Italy), one .30 bore Star Mark Pistol and one Baretta .30 bore Pistol (Made in Italy). Apart from this, police teams have also impounded their Yamaha R15 motorcycle without number plate and Honda Grania scooter without number plate, which they were using to deliver the consignments.

    DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested accused persons were working under the directions of Jugraj Singh of village Mode in Amritsar, who is currently lodged in Central Jail at Sri Goindwal Sahib, and actively running the smuggling racket through his advocate’s Munshi identified as Rajan. The kingpin Jugraj Singh, who has been facing several criminal cases unde the NDPS and Arms act, is reportedly in contact with Pakistani drug traffickers from within the jail, he said.

    The DGP said that these weapons were smuggled from across the border and were likely meant to be supplied to criminal elements in Punjab. Further investigations are on to establish forward and backward linkages in this case, he added.

    Sharing operation details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) ANTF Nilabh Kishore said that ANTF Border Range Amritsar team had received credible inputs about the trio’s involvement in retrieving weapons on the directions of their jailed handler Jugraj Sing. Acting swiftly on the inputs, police teams led by Superintendent of Police (SP) ANTF Border Range Amritsar Gurpreet Singh launched an intelligence-led operation and apprehended accused persons from opposite Khalsa College in Amritsar and recovered weapon consignments from their possession, he said.

    The ADGP said that police teams will bring accused Jugraj Singh from Jail on production warrant to carry out further investigation in this case and identify more persons involved in this smuggling racket. More arrests and recoveries are likely in coming days.

    A case FIR No. 152 dated June 6, 2025, under section 25 of the Arms Act, has been registered at Police Station ANTF, SAS Nagar.

    Punjab News: With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state entered 98th day, Punjab Police on Saturday arrested 132 drug smugglers and recovered 1.3 kg heroin and Rs 1.5 lakhs drug money from their possession. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 16,296 in just 98 days.

    The operation was conducted on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav simultaneously in all 28 Police districts of the state.

    Notably, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann has asked the Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendent of Police to make Punjab drug free state.     The Special DGP said that with the state government has enforced a three-pronged strategy— Enforcement, Deaddiction and Prevention (EDP)— to eradicate drugs from the state, the Punjab Police as part of ‘De-addiction’ has convinced 94 persons to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment today.

  • Court extends police remand of YouTuber Jasbir Singh in espionage case

    Chandigarh: A court in SAS Nagar on Saturday extended by two days the police remand of Punjab-based YouTuber Jasbir Singh, who was arrested on June 4 on charges of spying for Pakistan.

    Singh was produced before the court after the expiry of his initial three-day police remand. While police sought an extension of seven days, the court granted a two-day extension.

    According to officials, Singh is allegedly linked to influencer Jyoti Malhotra, who is currently in custody on similar charges of espionage. Police claim Malhotra had exposed a “terrorist-backed espionage network” with alleged links to Pakistani intelligence and military agencies.

    Singh’s lawyer was present in court and confirmed the remand proceedings. Further investigation into the alleged espionage network is ongoing.
