Rajya Sabha MP reiterates Punjab Government’s commitment to rehabilitation and welfare of flood victims
Jalandhar News (June 16): Rajya Sabha Member and renowned environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal on Tuesday handed over plot allotment letters to four families of village Mandala Channa whose houses were damaged during last year’s devastating floods.
Accompained by DC Varjeet Walia, SSP Harvinder Singh Virk, SDM Lal Bishwash Bains, Sant Sechewal said that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, remains firmly committed to supporting people affected by natural calamities and ensuring their timely rehabilitation. He stated that the allotment of residential plots would provide the affected families with a secure place to rebuild their homes and restart their lives with dignity.
The Rajya Sabha MP highlighted that the state government had undertaken extensive relief and rehabilitation measures following the floods to safeguard the interests of affected families. He added that the government had conducted a comprehensive survey to assess flood-related losses and subsequently ensured the distribution of financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries.
Sant Seechewal said that the allotment of plots marks another significant step towards the rehabilitation of flood-hit families. He noted that providing a permanent solution to those who lost their homes remains a priority of the government and reflects its people-centric approach.
Reaffirming the government’s resolve to stand by citizens during times of crisis, he said that every effort is being made to strengthen disaster response mechanisms and provide prompt assistance to affected people. He also assured that the concerns of flood-prone areas would continue to receive special attention to minimize future losses.
The beneficiary families expressed gratitude to the Punjab Government and Sant Seechewal for extending support and helping them secure a fresh start after the disaster.
