Chandigarh: The Haryana government has intensified its crackdown on corruption in the Revenue Department, categorising 129 officers based on the severity of their misconduct. These officials, including those in the ranks of Naib Tehsildar, Tehsildar and District Revenue Officer (DRO), have been found guilty of bribery and amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

According to sources, the number of officers under scrutiny has risen from 108 to 129 following a detailed investigation. Evidence has been gathered and documentary proof examined, leading to the preparation of charge sheets. The file has now reached Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for final approval.

Unlike previous leaks involving patwaris and middlemen, the government has maintained strict secrecy regarding the names of these corrupt officers. However, officials posted in relevant districts have already received internal reports and have been asked to submit responses.

The government has created three categories for punitive action:

Most Corrupt: This category includes officers who carried out more than 50 fraudulent property registrations. Action against them will be taken under Rule 7 of the Haryana Civil Service Rules, which may include compulsory retirement.

Less Corrupt: Officers in this category are accused of less than 50 illegal registrations. They will face proceedings under Rule 8, which involves issuing show-cause notices and potential financial penalties if found guilty.

Financial Irregularities: These officers did not directly cause revenue losses but are accused of earning through corrupt means. If nearing retirement, they may be granted conditional relief based on the gravity of their offence.
