Chandigarh: As protests against the release of Diljit Dosanjh’s film Sardar G-3 continue in India and the Punjabi entertainment industry, senior artists and leaders have started coming out in support of the actor.

Punjabi singer Babbu Maan has now voiced his support for Diljit Dosanjh, sharing a post on Instagram to back him publicly.

“Punjab, Punjabiyat Zindabad,” Babbu Maan wrote, adding that in geopolitics, two countries may fight and reunite in the future, while an artist’s film often struggles to even get a censor certificate. He recalled facing similar challenges during the release of his Punjabi film Hawayein.

“But not allowing an artist to work in the future is a dictatorial order,” Babbu Maan wrote, noting that while artists may have different views, “when it comes to Punjab and Punjabiyat, Diljit and White Hill have our unconditional support.”

He also called for the censoring of Punjabi films to be handled within Punjab to ensure the feelings of people can be understood better.
