Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was rushed to Fortis Hospital this evening after his health condition worsened.
Officials said Mann had been unwell for the past two days and was receiving treatment from a team of doctors at his residence. On the advice of doctors, he was shifted to Fortis Hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
A senior official said the Chief Minister is suffering from an infection. He was accompanied to the hospital by his wife, Dr Gurpreet Kaur.
The development comes at a time when Punjab is reeling under floods, and officials acknowledged that Mann’s illness may affect ongoing relief and administrative work in the state.
