42nd Surjit Hockey Tournament to Shine Under New LED Floodlights: Nitin Kohli

Jalandhar News (Pawan Dhupar):  Surjit Hockey Society’s Secretary General Surinder Singh Bhapa and CEO Iqbal Singh Sandhu met Hockey Punjab’s President & Aam Aadmi Party’s Jalandhar (Central) Assembly Constituency In-charge  Nitin Kohli at Surjit Hockey Stadium to discuss preparations for the 42nd Surjit Hockey Tournament, scheduled from October 23 to November 1, 2025, here at local Surjit Hockey stadium, Burlton Park.

Nitin Kohli informed that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has approved the installation of new LED floodlights at Surjit Hockey Stadium, replacing the old & damaged ones. He assured the society that these lights will be installed by October 10, 2025, ahead of the 42nd edition of the tournament.

Nitin Kohli commended the Surjit Hockey Society for preserving the legacy of Olympian Surjit Singh, former Indian hockey team captain and highlighted the society’s academy, where over 125 young players are trained by experienced coaches. He pledged full government support for the tournament’s smooth execution. Olympian Balwinder Singh Shammi, Indian hockey team selector and Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Technical Head of Round Glass also attended the meeting.
