Punjabi singer Rami Randhawa booked for flaunting weapons on social media

Chandigarh: Amritsar (Rural) police have registered a case against Punjabi singer Ramandeep Singh, popularly known as Rami Randhawa, for allegedly displaying weapons on his social media account.

Police said they took suo motu notice after the singer uploaded photographs featuring weapons on Facebook. After verifying the content, the Ajnala police registered an FIR against him under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

ASI Kanwaljit Singh said police had received specific information that Ramandeep Singh had shared objectionable images involving weapons on his social media platform. “On checking his Facebook account, the information was found to be correct. Displaying weapons on social media is a violation of the law, following which the case was registered,” he said.

Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the weapons and to verify whether the accused holds any valid licence for the weapons shown in the photographs..
