Iran-Israel war enters day 16: attack near UAE oil terminal as Iran fires ballistic missile at Israel

New Delhi: The conflict between United States, Israel and Iran entered its 16th day on Sunday, raising concerns over global energy supply and maritime security in the Gulf region.

According to India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, an attack was reported on Saturday near the Fujairah Oil Terminal in the United Arab Emirates. At the time of the incident, an Indian-flagged tanker, Jag Laadki, was loading crude oil at the terminal.

Officials said all Indian crew members on board the vessel are safe. The ship successfully loaded around 80,800 metric tonnes of crude oil and has now departed safely for India.

Meanwhile, Iran launched a ballistic missile attack on Israel on Sunday. According to media reports, falling missile debris damaged a building where American diplomats work, though the exact city has not been confirmed. The United States maintains its embassy in Jerusalem and also operates a major diplomatic office in Tel Aviv.

Iranian authorities also denied reports that Mojtaba Khamenei, the country’s newly appointed supreme leader, had been injured in earlier strikes. Iranian officials said he was safe and unharmed.

The clarification came after British media outlet The Sun claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei had been seriously injured during US-Israel strikes on February 28 and had slipped into a coma. The claim had also been mentioned earlier by Donald Trump. Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed the reports as false.
