New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made a significant organisational change in the Rajya Sabha, removing MP Raghav Chadha from the post of deputy leader.
Punjab MP and Lovely Professional University chancellor Ashok Mittal has been appointed as the new deputy leader of the party in the Upper House.
The party has officially informed the Rajya Sabha Secretariat about the change. While AAP has described the move as a routine administrative decision, sources said Chadha also met the Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha regarding the development.
With the new role, Mittal is expected to lead the party’s strategy more actively in the Upper House. A businessman and educationist, he represents Punjab in the Rajya Sabha.
Sources further indicated that the party has also communicated that Raghav Chadha should not be allocated speaking time in the House.
The development has triggered political speculation, although the party maintains that it is a standard organisational reshuffle.
