Badshah apologises to NCW over ‘Tateeree’ song controversy, promises corrective steps

Chandigarh: Bollywood singer-rapper Badshah appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) and issued an unconditional apology in connection with the ongoing controversy surrounding his song ‘Tateeree’.

The hearing took place in Delhi on Tuesday, where Badshah was joined by director Joban Sandhu, Mahavir Singh and producer Hiten. The proceedings were led by NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar.

The commission expressed strong displeasure over the song’s lyrics and presentation, stating that they were against the dignity of women. Following this, Badshah and his team apologised and assured the panel that such content would not be repeated in the future.

In addition, Badshah committed to contributing towards women empowerment initiatives. He also promised to release a positive-themed song within four months and to financially support the education of 50 underprivileged girls.
