New Delhi: A 22-year-old woman, daughter of an IRS officer, was brutally raped and murdered inside her home in Amar Colony, shocking the national capital.
The victim was allegedly sexually assaulted and then strangled using a mobile phone charger cable. The incident took place on Wednesday morning while her father, Dinesh Gupta, and other family members were away from home.
Police have identified the accused as Rahul Meena, a former domestic help who was dismissed from the house about a month ago. He is currently absconding, and multiple teams of Delhi Police are conducting raids to arrest him.
According to the investigation, the accused planned the crime in advance. CCTV footage shows he reached near the building around 6 am and waited for the family to leave. He allegedly entered the house using an extra key that was kept outside for domestic staff.
Initial findings suggest signs of struggle at the crime scene, indicating that the victim tried to resist the attack. Police sources also revealed that the accused had a prior record related to a molestation case.
Rahul Meena, a resident of Alwar, is believed to have reached Delhi a day before the crime. Authorities are tracking his movement through CCTV footage and technical surveillance.
The incident has raised serious concerns over domestic staff verification and residential security systems.
