Amritsar: Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Monday summoned all Sikh MLAs in Punjab, irrespective of their political affiliation, along with the entire Punjab Cabinet to appear before the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs on June 29 in connection with deliberations on the sacrilege law issue.
The announcement was made by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj after a meeting of the five Sikh high priests, who discussed the matter and issued their decision from the Akal Takht.
Addressing the gathering, the Jathedar also referred to the controversy surrounding an alleged video involving Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He stated that the matter had been examined through forensic analysis conducted by two recognised laboratories in India. According to the findings cited during the announcement, the video was found to be authentic and showed no signs of editing, tampering or artificial intelligence-generated manipulation.
The Jathedar said actions considered disrespectful towards widely revered images of Guru Sahib and Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale could not be tolerated. He also took note of remarks allegedly made by the Chief Minister regarding offerings collected at gurdwaras and challenged him to substantiate those claims.
The Sikh clergy further announced decisions concerning two overseas cases involving gurdwara management committees in the United States and Canada. Details of those actions are expected to be released separately.
The June 29 appearance before Sri Akal Takht Sahib is expected to draw significant attention amid the ongoing debate surrounding religious and political issues in Punjab.
