Chandigarh: Days after former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh publicly criticised the appointment of Kewal Singh Dhillon as Punjab BJP president, his daughter Jai Inder Kaur on Monday met the newly appointed state chief in Chandigarh and extended her support.

Jai Inder Kaur, accompanied by BJP leaders and workers from Patiala, visited Dhillon at his residence and congratulated him on being entrusted with the responsibility of leading the party in Punjab.

During the meeting, Jai Inder Kaur wished Dhillon success in his new role and expressed confidence in his ability to further strengthen the BJP organisation in the state. She also conveyed her best wishes for the party’s future under his leadership.

The meeting assumes political significance as Captain Amarinder Singh had recently questioned Dhillon’s appointment and expressed reservations about the decision. His remarks had triggered speculation about possible differences within the Punjab BJP leadership.

However, Jai Inder Kaur’s visit is being viewed as an effort to project unity within the party and support for the new state leadership at a time when the BJP is preparing to expand its base ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

Party leaders described the meeting as cordial and focused on strengthening the organisation and enhancing coordination among workers across the state.
