Chandigarh: Amid the heated atmosphere during Punjab’s municipal corporation and council elections on Tuesday, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and his wife Amrita Warring drew attention after using a bullock cart as part of their election campaign. The traditional style of canvassing quickly became a topic of political discussion across the state.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reacted sharply to the development through a post on his Facebook page, taking a dig at the Congress leaders over their campaign methods.
In his post, Mann sarcastically remarked that political leaders were now “struggling in every possible way for power,” while mocking the use of bullock carts during campaigning and voting-related activities.
The Chief Minister’s remarks are being seen as an attempt to target the opposition ahead of the civic body election results. Raja Warring’s use of a traditional campaign style had already generated considerable buzz on social media and in political circles.
This is not the first time Bhagwant Mann has used his trademark satirical style to attack opposition leaders.
