Chandigarh: In a fresh development in the murder case of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, the Punjab Police has sought information from dating app Tinder about a suspected account allegedly linked to radical preacher and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh.
According to officials, the Faridkot police have sent a formal request to Tinder, asking for detailed user data as part of the ongoing investigation. Hari Nau, a member of the organisation ‘Waris Punjab De’ led by Amritpal Singh, was shot dead on October 9 last year while returning home from a gurdwara in his village.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav had earlier claimed that the murder was carried out at the behest of Amritpal Singh, who is currently lodged in jail under the National Security Act.
The police have also named gangster-turned-terrorist Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla as the mastermind behind the killing. Two shooters associated with the gang have reportedly been arrested in connection with the crime.
The letter to Tinder seeks extensive user data from January 1, 2019, including account details, name, date of birth, phone number, location history, IP logs, linked email IDs, uploaded media, friend lists, mutual matches, and full chat history.
Officials said the requested information is crucial to establishing communication links and digital footprints related to the case.
