Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has approved the withdrawal of the state’s land pooling policy.
The policy, introduced by the Punjab government, aimed to acquire 65,533 acres of land in 164 villages.
However, it faced strong opposition from farmers across the state, who launched widespread protests soon after its announcement.
Amid the agitation, farmer organisations had declared they would continue their struggle until the notification was officially revoked.
The cabinet’s latest decision fulfils that demand by formally scrapping the policy.
