PM Modi warns Pakistan, says India will no longer tolerate ‘nuclear blackmail’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said Operation Sindoor had caused such devastation in Pakistan that the neighbouring country had “lost its sleep” and warned that any future provocation would invite a befitting response. He asserted that India would no longer tolerate “nuclear blackmail”.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the country’s 79th Independence Day, PM Modi described the Indus Water Treaty as “unjust and unilateral”, saying India does not accept it.

“I am proud to salute the brave soldiers of Operation Sindoor. Our forces punished the enemies beyond their imagination,” he said, recalling that the operation was launched after terrorists from across the border carried out a massacre in Pahalgam. “Operation Sindoor is an expression of that anger,” he added.

The Prime Minister said the Army had achieved what had not been done for decades. “The devastation in Pakistan is so severe that new revelations are emerging every day,” he said. Warning Pakistan and terrorist groups, he said, “If the enemies dare to do this again, the Army will decide the target, the terms, and the timing — and we will respond appropriately.”
