Chandigarh: Mohali police have busted a module linked to terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and arrested three youths from Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the abduction and murder of a taxi driver.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said the arrested accused have been identified as Sahil Bashir, Munish Singh and Aijaz Ahmed. The trio is allegedly involved in the killing of Anil Kumar, a resident of Nayagaon, who had gone to Chandigarh railway station for a ride but never returned home. His car was later spotted at Ropar toll.
The accused confessed to the kidnapping and murder of the driver and also disclosed the location of his body. According to police, Kumar’s body was recovered from Mohali, while his car was seized from another district.
Police have also recovered a .32 bore pistol used in the crime. The main accused, Sahil Bashir, is already wanted in cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Arms Act. His brother Aijaz Ahmed was previously arrested with weapons. Both are believed to be overground workers of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
