Dubai: Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in their Asia Cup Group B match today. Chasing 170, Sri Lanka reached the target in 18.4 overs, finishing at 171 for four. Kusal Mendis played a match-winning knock of 74 not out.
Batting first, Afghanistan posted 169 for eight in 20 overs. Mohammad Nabi top-scored with a blistering 60 off 22 balls, while Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thushara starred with the ball, taking four wickets for 18 runs.
Afghanistan struggled to recover after Thushara’s early strikes, allowing Sri Lanka to dominate the game and secure an easy victory.
