Punjab E News (Pawan Dhupar): The Punjab Government has now turned technology into its greatest weapon for public welfare. Punjab will no longer change only through politics but also through technology. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Government has taken another historic step. Punjab has become the first state in India to launch Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based devices for the detection of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and eye disorders.
The historic program was formally inaugurated by Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh at the Chandigarh Municipal building. Speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister said that humans are one of nature’s finest creations and that humanity has fought many battles related to the body. He said cancer is a deadly disease. Therefore, keeping people’s health in mind, the Punjab Government has taken this historic step. Now, through AI, cancer and eye screenings will be possible. The Health Minister also informed that the government’s target is to conduct 600 eye screenings and 300 breast and cervical cancer screenings every day.
This initiative will provide a new layer of safety not just for the women of Punjab but for society as a whole—because early detection of fatal diseases like cancer is the strongest weapon in treatment.
In line with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of strengthening healthcare services, Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh launched these state-of-the-art AI-based screening devices. These devices will help detect breast cancer, cervical cancer, and vision problems at an early stage.
But this is not the first time that the Punjab Government has linked AI with public welfare. Earlier too, the Bhagwant Mann Government demonstrated that with honest intent and a modern approach, AI can save public money and improve systems.
Not long ago, the Punjab Government conducted an AI and videography-based survey of 3,369 roads across the state. The survey revealed that 843 of these roads were already in perfect condition. These were the very roads for which previous governments had spent crores under the guise of repairs. This time, thanks to the AI survey, ₹383 crore was saved. This money will now be spent on public welfare rather than unnecessary tenders and corrupt repairs.
And it is not just the roads—the entire system is being repaired. An overhaul worth ₹252 crore is being carried out in jails, where 5G jammers, AI cameras, and live monitoring systems have been installed. From policing to the tax system, technology is being fully adopted to bring transparency. Now, in driving license tests, instead of middlemen, AI-based HAMS technology is being used. This records every candidate’s test, ensuring no manipulation in results.
The Mann Government’s most ambitious and far-reaching plan has begun in the field of education. 10,000 teachers are being trained in Artificial Intelligence. These teachers will not only teach but also become pioneers who will introduce future generations to the language of AI. Lakhs of students will now receive AI training at the school level, enabling Punjab’s youth not just to seek jobs but to become job creators.
At Punjab Agricultural University, AI-based courses have been launched so that farming families also benefit from modern technology. Not just this, the government has started a mission to integrate the Punjabi language with AI. The goal is to give our mother tongue global recognition while creating new digital opportunities for local youth.
This transformation is not just about policies—it is about a shift in thinking. Development now doesn’t only mean roads and buildings but also access to technology that makes every citizen’s life easier. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his government have proven that when intentions are clean and decisions are made in public interest, people’s money stays protected, and their future becomes secure.
Punjab has now moved forward in a new direction, where decisions are not just on paper but visible on the ground. This is the Punjab that will now be recognized not for scams, but for honesty, technology, and progress.
