Grand Shobha Yatra organized in Jalandhar to mark the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Maharaj
Jalandhar News (Pawan Dhupar): Punjab’s Finance, Excise & Taxation, and Planning Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today participated in the Shobha Yatra held to mark the Prakat Utsav of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Maharaj. On this occasion, the Minister called upon people to strengthen mutual brotherhood and adopt in their lives the teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji that promote unity and social harmony.
Extending warm greetings on behalf of the Punjab Government, Mr. Cheema said that Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s teachings emphasize equality and morality, which remain highly relevant in today’s era. He urged everyone to draw inspiration from these teachings to build an ideal society. The Minister also announced a grant of Rs.10 lakh for the City Valmiki Sabha.
Mr. Cheema said that following the vision of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, everyone should pursue education to contribute to Punjab’s progress and prosperity. He added that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party government has initiated reforms such as installing portraits of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh in government offices and focusing on quality education. Mr. Avinash Chopra from Punjab Kesari group was also present on the occasion.
Punjab’s Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said that Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s Ramayana is a timeless epic reflecting human values, teaching people the art of living and guiding generations toward truth. He inspired youth to follow Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s teachings to strengthen social harmony and announced Rs. 2 lakh from his discretionary fund for the City Valmiki Sabha.
Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian congratulated devotees and said Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s philosophy of equality serves as the foundation of a just society. He announced Rs. 2.5 lakh from his discretionary fund for the Sabha.
Minister for Mining, Geology, Land & Water Conservation, and Water Resources Barinder Kumar Goyal also participated, saying Valmiki Ji’s teachings have served as a beacon of light for society for centuries. Calling Jalandhar a bouquet of diversity, he praised its culture of mutual respect and announced Rs. 3 lakh from his discretionary fund.
Horticulture, Freedom Fighters, and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat said Bhagwan Valmiki Ji’s message remains deeply relevant today. He urged people to adopt his path of righteousness, sacrifice, and service to the needy, announcing Rs. 5 lakh from his discretionary fund for the Sabha.
