Tejashwi Yadav named ‘India’ alliance chief ministerial candidate for Bihar polls

New Delhi: The ‘India’ alliance on Thursday announced Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot made the announcement during a press conference attended by all alliance partners.

Gehlot said the decision was made with the consent of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi. He further announced that Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sawhney would be appointed deputy chief minister if the alliance forms the next government in Bihar.

He added that another leader from the backward classes would also be given the post of deputy chief minister.
