Chandigarh: A domestic dispute in Amritsar’s Kayampur village under Ajnala police station took a tragic turn when a couple allegedly killed their son during an argument. The deceased has been identified as Simar Jung.
According to police, a heated quarrel broke out within the family, escalating to the point where Simar’s parents lost control. During the altercation, the father allegedly picked up a brick lying nearby and struck Simar on the head. Simar collapsed on the spot and fell unconscious. As blood pooled around him, the mother fled from the scene.
Police arrived shortly after receiving information, detained the accused father and sent the body to the hospital. Officials completed the documentation and kept the body in the mortuary for post-mortem. A search has been launched to trace the absconding mother.
Police said Simar had been married to Navpreet for four years, and the couple have a two-year-old son. There had been ongoing tension at home regarding his wife. Navpreet had recently left for her maternal home after an argument.
Simar reportedly wanted to bring his wife back and keep the family together. Frequent disputes over this issue had created strain in the household, which ultimately led to Saturday’s fatal confrontation. The investigation is underway.
