Chandigarh: Former MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu has strongly rejected the legal notice issued by Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, calling it baseless and asserting that she stands by every statement she has made. She warned that if Randhawa did not withdraw the notice, she would initiate legal proceedings of her own.
Kaur said her remarks fall under the right to freedom of speech and were based on media reports. On Tuesday, Randhawa, who also serves as the Congress in-charge for Rajasthan, sent her a legal notice seeking an apology for allegedly making defamatory accusations.
According to the notice, Kaur had publicly accused Randhawa on December 7 and 8 of indulging in corruption, including allegations of distributing party tickets in exchange for money.
Her sharp response came a day after the Congress suspended her from the party’s primary membership over her ‘Rs 500 crore’ comment. Several other party leaders have also initiated legal action against her.
