Chandigarh: With severe cold conditions persisting in the Union Territory, winter holidays in schools across Chandigarh have been extended. Schools will now reopen on January 19, officials said.
Issuing fresh orders on Thursday, district education officer Nirmala said the earlier instructions had been revised due to the harsh cold wave. Holidays have been extended till January 17. Since January 18 is a Sunday, schools will resume regular classes from January 19.
Schools have been given the option to conduct online classes for students as per their convenience. However, physical classes for students of Classes 8, 9 and 11 will remain suspended during this period.
