Youth shot dead near private University in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: A youth was shot dead in broad daylight near Sant Baba Bhag Singh University in Adampur, Jalandhar, allegedly due to an old rivalry. The incident created panic in the area, with residents reporting sounds of gunfire.

According to police sources, the victim, identified as Kesar Dhami, was travelling on a Bullet motorcycle along with his friends when two assailants on another bike intercepted them. One of the attackers, identified as Jassa, allegedly rammed Dhami’s motorcycle, causing him to fall. He then reportedly fired a shot at close range, hitting Dhami in the head and killing him on the spot.

The incident occurred around 3 pm on Friday. Dhami, a resident of Sadra Sodhian, had reportedly been staying for the past few days with his friend Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Pyala village. On the day of the incident, Dhami, Bhupinder and their third friend, Gagan, had arrived at the college on a single motorcycle. While returning after finishing college-related work, the attackers, who were allegedly waiting, carried out the planned assault.

Police said the murder appears to be the result of an old enmity. A case has been registered, and teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused. Further investigation is underway.
