Corruption case filed against AAP woman leader and sarpanch, vigilance issues notice

Chandigarh: A corruption case has been registered against former district president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) women’s wing and incumbent sarpanch Satveer Kaur in Bathinda. She has been accused of demanding money in exchange for arranging a job. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has issued a notice asking her to join the investigation.

According to the allegations, Satveer Kaur helped a youth secure a driver’s job on an outsourcing basis and allegedly collected money from him every month. When the payments stopped, she allegedly got him removed from the job. Vigilance Inspector Rajandeep Kaur said that if Satveer Kaur fails to cooperate with the probe, she will be arrested.

The case has been registered on the complaint of Jatinder Singh, who approached the Vigilance Bureau with serious allegations against Satveer Kaur, the sarpanch of Kaljharani village, and the chairman of the Punjab Forest Department. Following the complaint, Satveer Kaur was earlier removed from her post as district president of the AAP women’s wing.

The Vigilance Bureau said the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the findings.
