RSS Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat in Punjab today to meet intellectuals in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: As part of the centenary year celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat is on a three-day visit to Punjab. During his stay, he has been meeting people from different sections of society.

On Thursday, Bhagwat is scheduled to interact with intellectuals at Aurobindo College in Ludhiana, where he will highlight the 100-year journey of the RSS and discuss its vision for the future.

Focus on ‘Panch Parivartan’

Bhagwat is expected to elaborate on the RSS’s five-point agenda — Panch Parivartan — aimed at social and national transformation:

1. Social Harmony (Samajik Samrasta):

Promoting unity under the slogan “Aap Mein Ek Rakt,” encouraging collective celebration of festivals of saints, gurus and deities, shared family meals, and rejection of caste-based discrimination.

2. Environmental Protection:

Emphasis on water conservation, avoiding food wastage, switching off lights and fans when not in use, reducing plastic and thermocol usage, and promoting chemical-free and cow-based farming.

3. Family Awareness (Parivar Prabodhan):

Encouraging families to spend one day a week together for dialogue, meals and spiritual discussions; limiting mobile and TV use during prayer time; and strengthening value-based upbringing of children.

4. Self-reliant Lifestyle (Sw-aadharit Jeevan):

Celebrating personal milestones according to Indian traditions, promoting local and indigenous products, using Indian languages for signatures, greeting with “Sat Sri Akal,” “Ram Ram,” “Namaskar,” and practising yoga and exercise.

5. Civic Responsibility:

Following traffic rules, maintaining cleanliness, participating in national festivals, and fulfilling duties towards the nation.

Expansion in Punjab

Sources said Bhagwat’s visit also aims to strengthen and expand RSS activities in Punjab. He has consistently encouraged people to understand the organisation by attending its shakhas.

Founded in 1925, the RSS expanded to Punjab in 1937. The centenary year programmes are being organised across the country to mark 100 years of the organisation’s journey.
