SGPC announces 4% DA hike for employees on Nanakshahi New Year

Amritsar: The president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Harjinder Singh Dhami, announced a 4% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for SGPC employees on the occasion of the Nanakshahi New Year Samvat 558.

The announcement was made during a religious programme held after the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib. Dhami extended greetings to employees and the Sikh community on the beginning of the Nanakshahi year.

Along with the financial announcement, Dhami also directed employees to follow traditional Sikh attire while on duty, asking them to wear kurta-pajama in line with Sikh traditions. He said those serving in gurdwaras should reflect Sikh discipline and values through their appearance and conduct.

Dhami added that Sikh traditions and customs are an essential part of Sikh identity and should be preserved. He instructed employees and sewadars to begin their daily duties collectively with the recitation of the Mool Mantar and Waheguru Gurmantra.

The SGPC president said the DA hike will come into effect from April 1, adding that ensuring the welfare of employees remains the responsibility of the committee while maintaining the dignity and discipline of gurdwara institutions is equally important.
