Chandigarh: Supporters of former Punjab minister Laljit Singh Bhullar gathered at his office in Patti amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged suicide of warehousing official Gagandeep Singh.
Addressing the media, AAP leader Advocate Heera Singh Sandhu and chairman Gurpinder Singh Uppal said they have full faith in the investigation by police or any other agency, but stressed that the probe must remain impartial and free from political influence.
They claimed that Bhullar has confidence in the law and will cooperate with the investigation. The leaders also alleged that opposition parties are trying to gain political mileage by targeting Bhullar.
Supporters pointed out that Bhullar had already resigned from his cabinet post soon after the matter surfaced, and called for a fair inquiry into the tenders issued for Patti and Bhikhiwind, which are linked to the case.
Meanwhile, despite the growing political controversy, senior party leadership from Tarn Taran district largely stayed away from the gathering, indicating a cautious approach within the party ranks.
