New Delhi: At least eight women were killed and several others injured in a stampede during a religious gathering at the Sheetla Mata temple in Bihar’s Nalanda district on Tuesday.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred when a large number of devotees gathered for prayer, leading to overcrowding and panic, which triggered the stampede. Several people were reportedly crushed in the chaos.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured government support.
In a post on X, he described the incident as deeply tragic and said arrangements have been made to ensure proper treatment of the injured. He also assured that all possible assistance and relief would be provided to the affected families.
