Washington/Tehran: A major agreement aimed at ending months of conflict between the United States and Iran could be signed soon, according to US President Donald Trump, who said negotiations have reached an advanced stage.

In a social media post, Trump claimed that the historic agreement could be finalized on Sunday, which also coincides with his 80th birthday. He described the proposed deal as a significant step toward restoring stability in the region.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also indicated that preparations for electronically signing the agreement had been completed. However, Iranian officials have suggested that a final decision may take more time.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry and local agencies said political and legal aspects of the proposed agreement are still under review, and additional consultations may delay the final approval process by a few days. Mediators from Qatar have reportedly arrived in Tehran to help conclude the negotiations.

Meanwhile, demonstrations have been reported in several Iranian cities, where hardline groups have questioned both the timing and the terms of the proposed deal.

Separately, Israel has made it clear that it is not a party to the US-Iran negotiations. On Sunday, the Israeli military carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in southern Beirut, saying the operation was in response to missile attacks targeting northern Israel.

Iran, however, has insisted that any broader regional de-escalation must include an end to Israeli military operations in Lebanon.

The reported diplomatic breakthrough comes amid continuing tensions across the Middle East, with international stakeholders closely monitoring developments that could reshape regional security dynamics.
