Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Keval Singh Dhillon on Tuesday said the controversy surrounding the Punjabi film Satluj should come to an end, warning that reopening painful chapters from the state’s past would serve no constructive purpose.
In a statement, Dhillon said Punjab has already endured immense pain and bloodshed over the years, and healing such wounds takes time. He stressed that the suffering and loss of innocent lives, irrespective of religion, should never be forgotten, but should also not be used for political point-scoring.
He called for the memories of the victims to be honoured with dignity rather than becoming the subject of political controversy.
Dhillon also appealed to the media to report on the issue with responsibility and restraint, saying that maintaining peace and communal harmony in Punjab should remain the highest priority.
His remarks come amid the continuing debate over the film Satluj, which has reignited discussion about Punjab’s turbulent past and sparked political reactions from various quarters.
